firecrackers

Welcome July! Hope you all have a fab weekend. I'll be visiting my family in Mississippi for a few days. And, AND, little Dean and Millie g. will be staying with them for... (wait for it...) ONE WEEK. So everything that needs to be accomplished in my life for the rest of two thousand and ten will most likely get done next week or not ever at all. Be back soon!

dear june

Dear June, you are awesome. Thank you for being my 3rd favorite month. Love, me.

Hope everyone enjoyed June! Summer is very relaxing. Happy red, white, and blue weekend!

P.S. I would like to say that I am super thankful for all of my faithful blog readers. You are all very encouraging. However, when you leave comments written in Chinese... well... to be honest...I have no idea what you are saying. So please, if possible, only English comments please!

sweet shop

This is one of my favorite places around town. It's cute and it smells good and they have REALLY good lemonade.

Millie g. and little Dean have a chore chart. When they get 12 happy faces on the chart they get a prize. Little Dean wants his next prize to be a skateboard. Millie g. wants her next prize to be this bag of pink gumballs.
This week we devoured a candy apple and a large lemonade (with four straws, please).

Happy snacking!

camp

We spend large portions of our time at Charlie's Teameffort campsite. Here is why I like it... 1. The kids run free and I never have to tell them "no" or "stop" or "be quiet."

2. Teenagers who give a week of their time to fix roofs for elderly people and play with sad kids are my favorite...

3. I get to paint on huge pieces of wood...

4. Charlie..

Hope your week is breezy and full of fresh air!

i am 30

Yesterday was my 30th birthday. It was special and happy.

Charlie surprised me with a kayak tour around St. Simons Island. It was beautiful and SO much fun. I love him. I feel healthy and strong and determined and content. Bring it on, 30. Bring it on!

maps

I was cleaning my sewing room/closet yesterday and found this awesome fabric. It has a map of the United States on it. No clue why I have this little treasure, but you better believe I stopped what I was doing and whipped up a little dress for Millie G. Why? Because everyone needs something in her closet with a map on it. Really.
Have good day! It's hot outside!

quilt number 2... day one

Today feels like a good day to start a quilt. If you have a spare full size sheet and scrap fabric, please join me! I would love to see your progress. I'll be keeping you updated on the progress of this quilt...

I've been collecting patches from all of our family vacations since little Dean was born. My original plan was to attach all of them onto a suitcase for him, but now we have so many patches that I decided a quilt would be a better home for them.

Step one of this quilt is to attach the patches to small squares of fabric that will be attached to larger squares in the days to come. O.K. get to work! Happy quilting!
