welcome back

Welcome back, faithful readers! And welcome to the glorious month of April! Thanks for being patient with my little "blog vacation." The past few weeks were filled up with finishing a few major home projects and paintings and creative explorations. Also tons of huggy time with my bright and shiny kids. Spring is the bomb.

I added a button and a scrap fabric flower to one of little Dean's old undershirts... now it's fancy enough for Millie G.

Enjoy the warmth of the sunshine today!

cubbies

Being creative with kids also means being creative with all of their stuff! I utilize every nook and cranny of our home to keep things organized. I'm a much happier mom if I don't have to run around like a crazy person looking for personal belongings all day. Our garage is where I place all of what we call our "out the door" items. Including shoes, bags, keys, playground gear, sports necessities, etc. So I made these "cubbies" to go above the kids' backpack hooks. A perfect location for little Dean's soccer cleats and t-ball glove... which we need twice a week or so.

I started with a simple basket. I screwed one screw into each corner and then into the wall. It's very sturdy and fab. It's also a great place for a basket of sunblock and bug spray... springtime requirements in southeast georgia. place your reusable shopping bags on top and there you have it!

Cost of this project... $8. Baskets were $4 each. Tools were free from Charlie's tool box.

I'm busy at work creating a blog that will scratch all of your inspirational itches. Buffy Sunshine will return to regularly scheduled razzle dazzle blogging on APRIL FIRST, TWO THOUSAND AND TEN. That's fourteen days away. Check back, faithful readers! Enjoy March!

today's snack

While my family was visiting last week I attempted to make my first completely gluten-free, dairy-free, vegan cookies. Most of my cooking is gluten-free and I'm almost a vegan... like 84 percent. Anyway, somehow this cookie dough was a MAJOR fail. I usually ruin a recipe at least twice before I get it perfect. Don't get me wrong, the dough was delicious, but it baked into this runny hard substance. Almost like a potato chip... only sweet and chocolaty. Believe me, it was as strange as it sounds. Anyhow, since the dough didn't have raw eggs, I had no problem serving it up to my darlings for snack time.

I took the dough out of the fridge and rolled it into several little balls.
Hello best snack ever! And all my fancy ingredients didn't go to waste.
So cookie dough balls for everyone! Be inventive today!

My family came to visit last weekend. It was WAY overdue. I love my sisters and my mom and my dad. They're the sweetest! Here are a few pics...

And have I ever told you that my Charlie is stupendous? He's been doing tile in our kitchen. It looks FABULOUS. I wanted him to break a few on purpose so it wouldn't look so "perfect."He doesn't always understand why I do things, but he's wonderful and just goes along with my nutty ideas...

Happy Monday! it is monday, right?

lights

My first order of business when we moved in was to replace all ceiling fans with chandeliers. It was necessary. Happy Friday! Put some tile on the walls in your kitchen this weekend!

word up

This is my Bible. My copy of God's Holy Word. Charlie gave me this on the day we got married. I've spent the last seven years making notes and highlights and underlines everywhere. It's special.

A few months ago, the binding started to fall apart on my Bible. It started to look really cool and worn and awesome. I was considering making a new cover just for the binder part.

THEN I left my Bible at Charlie's parents house accidently one night. Charlie's parents have a dog. He's cute. He ate my Bible. Then my Bible looked like this...

So I'm making a new cover for the whole thing. Everyone is telling me to just break down and buy a new one, but I can't part with this one. Anyway, leather scraps and embroidery thread and gorilla glue make Bibles look really fab.

Don't leave your Bible lying around, people. Just don't do it.
